Photo Project: Days 20 & 21

I must admit I look forward to returning to regular programming. I love taking and posting photos, but my intention when doing this project was to also intersperse other posts amidst the daily photos, and the time just isn't there for me. Obviously, I can't even keep up with daily photos posts. Nonetheless, this season has been really special, and documenting some of the fun moments will be good for reminiscing!

This was given to us today by Althea's daycare providers. Melts my heart!

Photo Project: Day 19

Thea had a lot of fun going through the box of gifts from Grandpa and Grandma Tuttle tonight!

Photo Project: Day 16 and 17

This photo project has offered me some observations: 1. This has been a month of mostly staying indoors, which is rare for us. Being home feels good right now. 2. Althea and Quincy are serious buddies. 3. I don't really seem to have a lot of time for these kind of projects! :)

Photo Project: Days 13, 14, and 15

I fell off the picture-posting band wagon. Even now as I write this, I don't feel so full of enthusiasm to be posting about the normal day-to-day experiences I am having in my family.

I was sleep-deprived this week and not functioning to my fullest. Thursday night Scott and I focused on our time with Althea and then with each other once she went to bed. I stayed up way too late (and still didn't find time to post a photo), tossed and turned, and ended up with maybe 5 hours of sleep under my belt.

Friday, my whole work shook. I was utterly stunned when Scott called to tell me about the school shooting in Connecticut. Really hard to go one with the rest of my day at work. WHY do we live in a culture like this? I really can't wrap my mind around it. My heart is broken. I am grieving for these Connecticut families and mostly for the children. To hear of these kinds of stories traumatizes me to the deepest level. I don't feel safe anywhere, and all I want to do is run and hide in a remote place with my family.

Every family moment since yesterday is more vibrant and touches me even deeper than before. It is with the truest gratitude anyone could have that I share photos that represent precious times in my normal days with my family. We've been holding each other close.

Photo Project: 12/12/12

Today was the second time since going back to work where I didn't get to see my baby over my lunch hour. I cherish the few midday moments we get together. I was extra excited to see her when I got home after work today!

Photo Project: Day 11

We got a few gift packages in the mail and when we opened the boxes, Althea didn't hesitate; she climbed right in! I remember big boxes being some of my favorite toys when I was young!

Photo Project: Days 9 and 10

nine:
Am I going to be one of those moms who wears matching clothes with her kid? Maybe. These matching Old Navy plaid shirts were too fun to pass up! We had a hilarious and fun photo shoot as a family this weekend in attempt to get a holiday photo. Althea didn't give a darn about looking at or smiling for the camera, but daddy captured this nice pic of momma and babe!

ten:
Althea was into my breakfast this morning, so I gave her a few bites of my Nancy's yogurt. She really wanted her own! Within 3 seconds of bringing a bowl just for her, she had managed to stick her whole hand in it. She certainly loves the sensory experience that comes with food, so I thought "ah well" and let her go with it. How can I complain with such a cute photo op?

Photo Project: Day 8

We went to the Winter Light Faire at the Waldorf School with our friends today and had a super time!! It was so fun exploring all that little school has to offer. They put so much emphasis on creativity and imagination.  Our visit certainly inspired our dreams about the future of Althea's education!

Photo Project: Day 7

We don't use Althea's changing table for diaper changes anymore, because she is so mobile. Don't you worry, though, it is still being put to use! Our cat Holstein has adopted it as his favorite place to nap.

Photo Project: Day 6

Althea loves to eat. She has liked every food she has tasted. Avocado? Yum. Sweet Potato? Yum. Banana? Yum. Egg Yoke? Yum. Carrots? Squash? Pears? Apple? Broccoli? Peas? Garbanzo beans? Plain yogurt? Yum, yum, yum!
She is also always hungry.
She loves to feed herself and she loves to squish her food between her fingers.
She's getting so good at drinking from her cup. Much of the time she drinks out of a normal cup (with mom and dad's help), and she sure loves to use the Green Sprouts cup on her own!
Meal times for Althea are an all around pleasant affair. She loves food! Not surprising considering who her parents are.

Photo Project: Day 4

Another busy day today. We attended a public forum this evening regarding the massive changes happening in the realm of health insurance in Oregon. There has been indication that midwifery care may no longer be covered under Oregon Health Plan. It was powerful to see the number of families and babies in the room advocating for home birth midwifery! Althea and her friend Corbin were very patient as their parents stood up for an important cause.

Photo Project: Day 3

The highlight of my day was definitely bringing home a BBslen woven wrap from the lending library at my babywearing group. I wore Althea in the wrap for over an hour and she was so cozy. I got some housework done too! I couldn't wait for Scott to get home so he could try it out. I hope to get lots of practice wrapping in the next two weeks while we're borrowing the BBslen. There is so much to learn in the world of woven wraps.

Photo Project: Day 2

We had a fun and busy day. Althea loved the excitement of rearranging the bedroom! This photo was captured when she flung herself backwards into the pillows on the bed and let out an enormous giggle.

December Photo Project 2012

I can't believe it's December 1st already.

You know me, I love to take photos. I am going to give the December Photo Project a try this year.

This time of year is a common time for photo ops, and posting a daily photo for the first 25 days of December will be a fun creative challenge for me. Not to mention, it gives me an excuse to photograph my favorite subject! Now let's hope I can find the time to get on the computer everyday.

Here is the link describing the project:
